Drishyam 2 is a new Indian Hindi language mystery thriller film directed by Abhishek Pathak. The film stars Ajay Devgan, Tabu, Shreya Saran, Akshay Khanna, Ishita Dutta, Marunal Jadhav and Rajat Kapoor. It is a remake of the 2021 Malayalam film of the same name and is also a sequel to Drishyam (2015). Filmed primarily in Goa with other locations including Mumbai and Hyderabad, it is scheduled for a theatrical release on 18 November 2022.
The Hindi-language film is a remake of the 2013 Malayalam-language hit film of the same name. Drishyam 2 is a 2021 sequel remake of the original Malayalam film, which was also titled Papanasam in Tamil, Drishyam in Telugu, and Drishiya in Kannada. In Drishyam 2, Ajay Devgn returns as film-obsessed Goan man Vijay Salgaonkar, who learns that a new cop is stalking his family in connection with an unsolved case from the previous film. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 2 is set seven years after the events of the first film, which ends with Vijay secretly confessing his family's crimes to a policewoman, but apparently in the interests of moral justice. I left him in silence. But during these seven years, the Goa police always suspected him.
“Truth is like a seed of a tree. No matter how deep you bury it, it will eventually come out one day”. Vijay says solemnly in the new trailer, in his shots. The body of the man who molested his wife and daughters has been buried.Spoiler alert, he hid the body under an under-construction police station.
In the Drishyam films, Vijay is portrayed as a medical man who uses his extensive knowledge of films to methodically eliminate both small and large tasks. The original Drishyam was said to be inspired by the hit Japanese novel 'The Devotion of Suspect X', although director Jeetu Joseph denied the claim. Incidentally, The Devotion of Suspect X has been adapted into several films internationally. An official Hindi language adaptation directed by Sujoy Ghosh and starring Kareena Kapoor Khan is also in the works on Netflix.
Production
The sequel to Drishyam was announced after the success of Drishyam (2021), the sequel to the original 2013 Malayalam film Drishyam, which was released in February 2021. It was decided that Abhishek Pathak would direct the film.
Principal photography for the remake sequel began on 17 February 2022 in Mumbai, and was shot extensively in Goa. Akshay Khanna joined the sets on 30 April 2022. The film wrapped on 21 June 2022 in Hyderabad.

This is Ajay Devgn's fourth film this year after Gangubai Kathiyawadi, RRR, and Runway 34. The actor is best known for playing action heroes in a three-decade career that has made him one of the biggest male stars in Bollywood. The widely respected Tabu is perhaps best known to Western audiences for her roles in Meera Nair's The Namesake and A Suitable Boy and Ang Lee's Life of Pi.
In contrast, Khanna spent several years out of work after establishing herself as a heartthrob in the early 2000s. Now he is in the midst of a career comeback.
