Chainsaw Man Season 1 Episode 9: Recap
The episode begins with Himeno's death, which shocks Aki. She begs Aki not to die so that she can grieve for him when he does. Power, on the other hand, flees as he is unable to defeat the katana man and leaves behind a grieving Aoki.
To honour Someone's wish, the ghost demon helps Denji turn on his chain before he dies. After the chain is activated, Denji quickly moves towards the katana man. They have an intense fight, where Denji is clearly overpowering the katana man.
The katana man's partner shoots Denji and kills him once again, cutting him in half. So Denji faints after bleeding profusely. Meanwhile, Makima, who is not actually dead, is seen arriving in Kyoto, where Kuruse and Tendo are waiting for him.
Makima comes out covered in blood and we can see inside the train where all the attackers are lying dead with holes in their chests. She then tells Kuruse and Tendo to sentence the 30 criminals to life imprisonment or worse.
Then the culprits are taken to the temple. Elsewhere, the kidnappers try to drag Denji's body into a car. When suddenly one of them is crushed. Akane then calls to check if Makima is dead, but is informed that none of the team heard from her that she went to attack him.
At the temple, Makima blindfolds everyone and stands before the criminals, and she begins her secret jutsu. Also, she asks the detractors to repeat the name and the attackers are crushed by repeating the name. One by one all the attackers have died.
Akane, knowing that such power belongs only to Makima, tells the katana man that they need to go. Just then Kobeni appears and attacks them and stops them from kidnapping Denji.
Realising that the man with the katana is injured, Akane puts him in a car and drives away. Ayokawa informs everyone that most of the humans in Divisions 1 through 4 have been killed and that what remains will be absorbed into Mama's direct command.
What to expect from episode 10
The episode will likely feature the training of the newly formed division. However, all parties involved will take time off to try to heal from their injuries. Aki is still in shock after Himino's death so we can see more of his story.
New members will appear and their powers can be revealed. We will get to know Makima's power and his demon. The episode may also show how Denji reacts to Himeno's death, as they were together the night before the attack.
