In an interview with the
Express Tribune on December 14, 2013, Bilal
Lashari announced that he would be directing Mulla Jutt and said: Missed
the opportunity for cinema, and what better choice but to take advantage of it
by paying homage to the cult classic Mola Jutt. " To adapt to this role,
Hamza Ali Abbasi began training to work on muscle harmony, proportion,
endurance and heart health.
On April 4, 2014, Lashari
announced that he has just completed the script of the film and is looking for
the main cast. The cast was selected on May 27, 2014 and the shooting of the
film started which revealed that the film will be in three languages. English,
Urdu and Punjabi.
Casting and Filming
The cast of the film was
revealed by Hamza Ali Abbasi
individually. Adnan Jaffer and Shimon Abbasi were removed from the
cast on November 16, 2016 after Asad
Jamil Khan and Amara Hikmat took
over the project on the advice of Bilal Lashari. In March 2015, Lashari
announced that he would start shooting the film initially from Lahore.
He revealed that the
story of the film will be completely new unlike the first part but the
dialogues will be taken from the 1979 film. On January 8, 2016, it was revealed
that Fawad Khan will play the legand
of Maula Jutt in which Noori Nath was played by Hamza Ali Abbasi. The film was
shot with a Red Epic W camera.
Release date
The trailer of the film
was released on December 21, 2018 with the release date of Eid-ul-Fitr 2019 in
a positive response. However, due to a copyright lawsuit filed by the producer
of the 1979 film, the release was postponed.
An agreement was reached between the two sides in February 2020, after which the film was to be released simultaneously in Pakistan and China on Eid-ul-Fitr 2020, but was postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19 epidemics. Was given It is now expected to be released in July 2022.
